wright mowingWith the summer finally winding down, lawn equipment users around the country are reflecting on how things went during the summer season. If you maintain landscapes and mow grass professionally, you know how long hours can wear on your equipment, and your body. If you use a Wright mower, you know that our mowers stand up to the roughest work on the hottest days. But you’ve also probably noticed that your body is more comfortable after working on a Wright mower than one made by one of our competitors. This is due to many manufacturing and design details, but also because our mowers are designed to be used while standing, not sitting.

To those who have never used a standing mower, this may seem counterintuitive. After all, sitting is equated with rest. But this may not actually be the case. Lawn care maintenance professionals who sit for hours a day on uneven and bumpy terrain have a much higher incidence of back and joint fatigue than those who do the same work from a standing position.

This happens for a variety of reasons, some of which are hard to explain. When you use a Wright mower for several hours, you’ll feel the difference. Basically, when you are seated atop a powerful mower, you are steering the machine, but in many ways the machine is driving you. Your spine is forced left and right suddenly every time you make more than a gentle turn. When you make the same turns while standing, you are able to react with your whole body; your legs, arms, and knees. Your back is much straighter and doesn’t have to bend much at all to make the turn.

Furthermore, when you are standing while operating machinery for long periods of time, all of your muscle groups are active. This serves to keep your whole body healthy. When you’re seated, your legs and core don’t have to do much, but the muscles in your neck, lower back, and arms are all working hard to keep you supported. Working this hard, these muscle groups are much more likely to develop fatigue or injury. While standing, your whole body works as one unit, as it is designed to do.

Wright Manufacturing understands our customers’ need for equipment that is comfortable for many hours of use. It’s no coincidence that are mowers are designed to be used while standing. It’s better for your health, in both the long and short term. Plus, most of our customers find they are able to have a higher degree of control over the work they do. Our mowers are an investment in comfort, health, and precision. It’s the Wright way, and we know you’ll love the difference it makes for your lawn and garden company.
